Nelly Biography

Diamond Selling, Multi-platinum, Grammy award-winning rap superstar, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and actor, Nelly, has continually raised the bar for the entertainment industry since stepping on the scene in 2000 with his distinctive vocals and larger-than-life personality. Twenty years later and Nelly is still making headlines and accepting accolades such as his newest album HEARTLAND, making Billboard’s top ten Country Album Charts and is near to being double platinum certified for “Lil Bit” featuring Florida Georgia Line. 2021 brings the platinum recognition of “Lil Bit” and the release of NELLY’S much anticipated country-inspired Country album HEARTLAND. Concurrently, this year celebrates 20 years of “Nellyville” while “Dilemma” marked 1 billion views on YouTube. In addition to touring shows, promoting the newest single, “High Horse” of the HEARTLAND album, NELLY is also filming the new season of BET’s hit show, “Real Husbands of Hollywood.” Burger King tapped NELLY to be featured in their newest campaign with his personal meal- “Cornell Haynes Jr.”. Nelly is in studio now preparing for Heartland Part 2 with a new single coming out this year and album release in 2023

2020 was a tough year for everyone, but Nelly worked through quarantine and the pandemic with the 20th anniversary of “Country Grammar” and the release of his new single “Lil Bit” featuring Florida Georgia Line promising his country inspired EP to follow entitled, Heartland. Additionally, Nelly secured a firm place in Americas hearts through his time on Dancing with the Stars with his loyal fans carrying him to third place. Additionally, NELLY was seen in a Lays Potato Chips commercial featuring Nelly and “Hot n Herre” and most recently secured a movie role in “Clear Lake” playing Chuck Berry. Nelly closed out 2020 with performances on the AMA’s, DWTS, The Voice Finale, and Dick Clarks Rockin New Years Eve.

Nelly’s Country Grammar album and his song Cruise with FGL both achieved Diamond status in 2016, Nelly also added sports commentator to his list of accomplishments with Fox Sports which makes him one of few actors with three television shows airing at one time with Fox Sports/Nellyville and Real Husbands. Nelly gained a unique opportunity to perform alongside the country’s most prestigious orchestras including St. Louis, Columbus and Pittsburgh garnering great reviews. In 2005, he made his big screen debut in the Adam Sandler and Chris Rock hit remake, The Longest Yard and in starred in Reach Me with Sylvester Stone 2014. Currently he supports Make a Wish and is the only rapper/music artist to own his own college, EI University, which provides education surrounding the music industry while Nelly himself provides scholarships.He has been referred to by Peter Shapiro as "one of the biggest stars of the new millennium",[3] and the RIAA ranks Nelly as the fourth best-selling rap artist in American music history,[4] with 21 million albums sold in the United States. On December 11, 2009, Billboardranked Nelly the number three Top Artist of the Decade.
