Grand Funk Railroad

“You cannot talk about rock in the 1970s without talking about Grand Funk Railroad!” --David Fricke, Rolling Stone Magazine, April 3, 2003.

Originating from Flint, Michigan in 1969, this top selling American rock group of the '70s is “COMIN’ TO YOUR TOWN TO HELP YOU PARTY IT DOWN." Grand Funk Railroad is extremely excited to be touring in 2014 marking a 45 year milestone. After playing to millions of fans on the band’s tours from 1996 to 2011, Grand Funk’s 2014 Tour will continue to reach both new and long-time fans.

Known as “The American Band," the high-energy five-piece group will play forty shows all over the USA this year. Grand Funk Railroad includes original founding members Don Brewer (vocals and drums, writer and singer of the multi-million selling hit, We’re An American Band) and bassist Mel Schacher, “The God Of Thunder." Joining Don and Mel are true “All Stars." Singer Max Carl is a rock veteran from 38 Special. Max penned and sang 38’s biggest hit “Second Chance” and was co-founder of California’s legendary Jack Mack and the Heart Attack. Don refers to Max as “the best blue-eyed soul singer on the planet." Lead guitarist Bruce Kulick is best known for his 12 years with KISS and also has credits with Michael Bolton, Meatloaf and Billy Squier. (KISS members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley were influenced early on by Grand Funk.) Keyboardist Tim Cashion has a master’s degree in music from the University of Miami. Affectionately called “Dr. Tim," his credits include stints with Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band and English soul man Robert Palmer.

The Guess Who

As the house lights fade down and the stage spots flair up, the sounds of rock and roll with classic sensibilities and progressive nuances permeate the crowd. At first, a familiar chord strikes everyone’s attention, then comes a catchy chorus followed by a memorable solo or remarkable moment of improvisation. Such an ear-pleasing arsenal carries into a non-stop evening of precise performance taking fans on a roller coaster ride of electric instrumentation, timeless balladry, unpredictable jamming and the ultimate sing-a-long experience. It’s a position held by a troupe of true musical luminaries who through over four decades in show business have been loaded with more hits than members can count, record sale will into the milti-millions and more drama than a VH1 “Behind the Music” episode and an E! “True Hollywood Story” documentary combined.

The name is none other The Guess Who, a group that’s connected with the masses throughout an exultant hit parade spanning fourteen Top 40 hits, including “These Eyes”, “Clap For the Wolfman”, “Hand Me Down World”, “No Time”, “Star Baby” and “Share the Land”. Add in fellow classics and double sided singles like their #1 rock anthem “American Woman” and “No Sugar Tonight”, plus “Laughing” and “Undun”, and the Canadian bred stateside conquerors are amongst music’s most indelible treasures who are eternally etched within the very fabric of pop culture history.

“You’re going to see an excellent version of the songs and hear exactly how they should sound or be played,” verifies founding member and original drummer/songwriter Garry Peterson. “We’re coming at a new generation of fans who are seeing how the band can execute with enthusiasm. And we’re also making sure the respect level remains at an all-time high for how the music was initially recorded and remains at an all-time high for the fans who have been with the band from the beginning.”

Together, partners Peterson and original bassist, songwriter, and founding member, Jim Kale, have been performing as The Guess Who for over 50 years; joining them onstage are veteran musicians keyboard player/flutist Leonard Shaw, lead guitarist Will Evankovich, and lead vocalist/guitarist Derek Sharp. Together the quintet annually launches an ambitious North American tour to adoring audience and selling out venues with their awe-inspiring execution, deft meticulousness and decades of radio penetrating smashes.
