Middleweight contender George “Comanche Boy” Tahdooahnippah will look to get back on track when he faces Delray Raines Saturday, August 8 in the main event of an HD Boxing card at the Firelake Casino in Shawnee, OK.

A Lawton native who is a huge ticket draw in the Sooner State, Tahdooahnippah has an outstanding 34-2-2 record with 24 victories by knockout. His bout against Raines is his first in Oklahoma since besting Tracy Sneed over ten rounds last August and he’ll also look to rebound from a recent setback against top rated Patrick Nielsen. Tahdooahnippah is a former WBC Continental Americas and WBA-NABA middleweight champion that works full-time for Comanche and Choctaw Nations as an environmentalist.

Hailing from Purcell, OK Raines will enter the ring with a ton of confidence. The 29-year-old Raines upset the aforementioned Sneed (27-3) this past February at the Firelake Casino, stopping him in the fifth round. Truly fearless, Raines met a number of top fighters including Erislandy Lara, David Lemieux, Joe Greene, Dominik Britsch Tarvis Simms, Aaron Mitchell, and Ronald Hearns. Excluding his win over Sneed, most of his notable bouts took place on short notice however he’ll have ample time to prepare for Tahdooahnippah.

“This is going to be an interesting main event,” said Bobby Dobbs of HD Boxing. “George has never lost in Oklahoma but neither has Raines. Delray is also extremely confident coming off of his win against Tracy. He won four bouts earlier in his career here and also fought Carson Jones. George is back at home where he fights best while Delray has proven before he has no problem coming in and beating the hometown fighter. I’m expecting an all out war come August 8.”

In undercard action, Shawnee’s very own Dennis Knifechief meets Norman, OK’s Jesse Comer in a four round light heavyweight contest. Oklahoma MMA standout Johnny “JC” Cotrell enters the squared circle for the first time as a professional when he meets fellow debuting Sooner State native Derrick Adkins. Cotrell-Adkins will take place over four rounds in the middleweight division.
